Windows 8 is now well and truly upon us and although we are still recommending Windows 7 as the best option for a lot of people, new machines with the last incarnation of Microsoft’s excellent OS are becoming a little thin on the ground!
This means that a lot of us will be taking the plunge whether we like it or not. As the months pass updates from software and hardware manufacturers (including MS themselves) mean a lot of the initial issues of Windows 8 are being addressed and as with all MS products in another 6 months Windows 8 could well be everything it promised!? This is not another article on the pros and cons of Windows 8, there are many online if you wish to search, rather just a quick heads up about the upgrade paths available to a lot of people who may be otherwise unaware of their options.
Many Windows 7 Desktop PCs and Laptop Computers purchased between the 2nd June 2012 and the end of this Month (January 2013) are eligible for a discounted price upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for £14.99. This is a download only offer (media is available for an additional charge) which much be registered for and downloaded by the 28th February 2013.
However, this does not need to be installed at once. You can keep the download files (burn to CD/DVD or copy to External device) and install them at any point in the future. A lot of people are unaware of this and might miss out on the option to upgrade to the latest OS as and when it might be a sensible step!
