Buying A New PC

Data Migration New PCSo, your trusty old computer has started to get to the point where it no longer performs to your requirements and/or you suspect it is about to go the way of all things.  Eventually all systems wear out or break and the day has now come to start thinking about a brand new replacement.

Sometimes it is tempting to get carried away with the excitement of a new purchase and finding the right machine for our needs but we often fool ourselves into thinking that the transition between old and new should and will be easy. Unfortunately, this is often the exception rather than the rule and to make sure you don’t end up in trouble or incurring extra expense or time delays we recommend considering the following.

Is my existing software compatible with the new system?

What software do I have/use and do I know how to get it (and the license) onto the new system?

Will my existing peripherals (Digital Camera, Webcam, Printer etc.) work on the new system?

If required, how do I move my existing personal files and emails onto the new system?

If I do run into problems can I afford to be without a computer for a few days whilst a professional gets it sorted?

There are also some very special considerations regarding moving between PC and Apple Macintosh systems (and vice versa) if you are going down that route, please do get in touch beforehand and we can discuss these with you.

However, if you simply don’t have the time, knowledge or inclination to do this yourself, get in touch and we can help make sure you get it right first time! We offer a standard installation service at £84 (Inc VAT), which includes finding the answers to the above questions, as well as planning the handover for a minimum of disruption.
